We are currently looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. PURPOSE OF POSITION Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible to provide assistance to production crews in mechanical and machine operations, building and facilities and associated equipment. Preventative maintenance, ensuring spares availability, spares development, complete maintenance functions of all utilities like cranes, sand plant, compressors, grinders, cooling towers, heat exchangers, heat treatment furnaces, melting(induction) furnace, disamatic, dust collectors, shot blasting machines, machine tools and cooler classifier.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required (preferred where applicable).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of technical training or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least one (1) year of mechanical experience, including hydraulics, electronics repair, or related applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and overhead crane certification preferred.
  • Four (4) years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical documents preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the operation of pneumatics, hydraulics and general mechanics.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions, (AC & DC) under supervision.
  • PM plant equipment mechanically and electrically.
  • Build electrical control cabinets under supervision.
  • Knowledge of PLC.
  • Able to perform repairs on electronic equipment under supervision.
  • Must be able to score above minimum required on the corporate maintenance technician test.
  • Be able to use hand tools, welder, cutting torch and electrical meters.
