Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in advanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills and/or specialized training.
  • Read and Write English.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical information in mathematical and/or narrative form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Able to comply and follow GMP Policies while in the facility, No jewelry, no acrylic nails or overlays, no false lashes, no outside food or drinks, no shorts/skirts or dresses.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Bi-Lingual a positive but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Using specialized skill sets, performs corrective maintenance and emergency maintenance on food packaging/processing equipment and facility equipment to maximize equipment up-time.
  • Completion of assigned scheduled preventative maintenance and work orders assigned to increase asset life.
  • Daily reports documenting the activities and work performed by the maintenance tech. Includes all equipment repairs from breakdowns, work orders or scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Assist in maintaining the maintenance departmental records.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced equipment mechanical/electrical issues within specialized skill sets.
  • Repair and/or rebuild pumps, mills, gearboxes and other miscellaneous mechanical entities.
  • Assist other maintenance mechanics in troubleshooting advanced equipment problems using specialized skill sets.
  • Train other maintenance mechanics with up to date information to increase skill level within department.
  • Effectively document who, what, why and when the training takes place.
  • Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports documenting the activities and work performed by the maintenance department.
  • Assist/direct other maintenance mechanics in troubleshooting advanced equipment problems using specialized skill sets.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintenance Technicians are required to create and complete work orders for every repair, malfunction, or call through the entirety of your scheduled shift.
  • It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Technician to communicate to their supervisor any missing parts, tools or equipment that is preventing you from completing a work order.
  • Work orders need to be detailed and include all information and steps taken to ensure the technician who follows up with the work order has a clear understanding of what has already been completed on the request.
