The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative, maintenance, and repairs of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.). This role is crucial for ensuring that machinery operates optimally and minimizing downtime. The position involves identifying root causes of breakdowns, performing repairs, ordering replacement parts, and documenting all work performed. Additionally, the role requires maintaining shop areas, collaborating with management on maintenance schedules, and assisting with modifications for new products. A strong focus on safety, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), is mandatory. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints to diagnose problems with manufacturing equipment.
  • Good computer literacy with the ability to enter work records in the appropriate program.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to handle and resolve most issues in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail.
  • Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level, and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational certificate in an appropriate field (i.e. welding, maintenance, electrical, etc.).
  • Multi-lingual strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, and changing belts as necessary.
  • Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines and repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime.
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, ordering and installing replacement parts for machines as needed.
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Collaborate with department heads regarding new products and required modifications.
  • Make necessary modifications and implement test runs; confer with product manager regarding test results and make additional alterations to machinery.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead, or participate in solution implementation.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory, helping to promote a zero-accident culture.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
