About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer (SME) at JLL, you will leverage your extensive mechanical engineering experience and over 5 years of operations expertise to manage and optimize critical systems in a high-performance data center environment. This role is essential to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous operation of mission-critical infrastructure that supports our clients' data center operations. Requirements

  • 4+ years of technical experience in building engineering with a strong background in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment repair and maintenance
  • Proven experience working in Data Centers/Raised Floor Environment
  • Universal EPA 608 Certification
  • CRAC (Liebert) maintenance and repair experience
  • 2 years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in relevant craft skills
  • Licenses as required by authority having jurisdiction
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in one specific craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations, Material Handling Equipment)
  • Familiarity with building automation systems and fire/life safety protocols
  • Knowledge of industry standards including ASHRAE and ISO regulations
  • Experience implementing Method of Procedure (MOP) processes and critical environment protocols
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Physical capability to lift up to 80 lbs., work from heights, climb ladders up to 30 feet, and work in adverse conditions (extreme temperatures)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems specific to data center operations, ensuring optimal performance and uptime
  • Design and implement cooling solutions optimized for high-density server environments while analyzing and enhancing airflow management strategies
  • Develop and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules for all critical infrastructure, including conducting regular performance analyses of facility mechanical and electrical systems
  • Lead root cause analysis for system failures or inefficiencies and implement corrective actions and system upgrades based on engineering assessments
  • Propose and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and evaluate green technologies suitable for data center operations
  • Manage complex data center infrastructure projects, including expansions and upgrades, while collaborating with equipment vendors and service providers
  • Mentor and guide a team of facility technicians and engineers while communicating effectively with executive management on infrastructure status and improvement plans
