About The Position

The Palmetto Bluff Preservation Trust (POA) Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of technical maintenance tasks relative to the POA to include preventative and ongoing maintenance of POA and developer owned assets. Assets include buildings, two tree houses, common areas maintenance along approximately 51 Miles of Road, 11 Miles of an expansive trail system.

Requirements

  • Proven maintenance experience with extensive knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry trades.
  • Able to work and complete assignments with minimal supervision; must be able to work independently and make competent decisions involving various assignments.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Capable of working extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Must be able to drive a car and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours (weekends, holidays, evenings, and early mornings based on work and POA needs).
  • Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment, occasionally.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Related degree from a technical college preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing preventative maintenance and routine inspections on POA and developer assets and common areas to include plumbing, electrical, painting, concrete/paver work and carpentry.
  • Handling basic repairs and maintenance.
  • Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them.
  • Manage the lighting, cleaning, and repair of approximately 1,500 gas lanterns on property.
  • Paint, repair, construct property signage, rails, posts, and fences to specifications.
  • Dock Repair, Power wash and maintenance.
  • Maintain navigation lights on docks and bridges.
  • Trap and relocate nuisance animals in common areas.
  • Cold patches, asphalt, pothole repair.
  • Roadway, trail, and dock preparations pre and post storm.
