Maintenance Technician

Ira GreenProvidence, RI
Onsite

About The Position

Ira Green is a manufacturer of military insignia and decorative metal goods. Our production floor runs a wide range of industrial equipment - stamping presses, hydraulic and progressive presses, an electroplating line, and finishing and packaging machinery. We are building a stronger maintenance function and are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep production equipment running. Working under the direction of senior maintenance staff, you will handle routine repairs, respond to equipment breakdowns, and carry out scheduled preventive maintenance across the plant. This is a developing role with room to grow your skills across mechanical and electrical systems and a path toward greater responsibility over time.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of maintenance or hands-on mechanical experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting; strong candidates developing in the trade will be considered.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn — comfortable using hand and power tools and working on production machinery.
  • Basic electrical awareness and the judgment to know when to escalate to senior staff.
  • Reliable, safety-minded, and able to follow direction and standard procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and follow LOTO and other plant safety standards.
  • Able to read, understand, and communicate in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with stamping presses, plating/electroplating lines, or metal-finishing equipment.
  • Welding, fabrication, or machining skills.
  • Prior preventive maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine repairs and respond to equipment breakdowns across stamping, polishing, finishing, plating, and packaging equipment, returning machines to running condition with minimal disruption.
  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance, including inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacement, following established PM schedules and standard work.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical problems on production equipment, escalating more complex faults to senior maintenance staff.
  • Help maintain spare parts and shop supplies so the right parts and tools are on hand when needed.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO); become an authorized employee on assigned equipment.
  • Check that equipment is in a safe condition - guarding in place, emergency stops functional - and report or correct safety deficiencies before returning a machine to service.
  • Available to respond to urgent equipment issues outside regular hours when needed.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
