Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic/technician in a corporate setting.
  • Operates hand tools, power tools, equipment and electrical testing equipment requiring manual dexterity.
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions, schematic drawings and layouts.
  • Ability to work alternative/shift work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime hours.
  • Working knowledge of computer maintenance management software.

  • General knowledge of hospital operations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general repairs and trouble-shooting in assigned areas, taking initiative to locate, document, and repair unreported equipment/building discrepancies.
  • Performs daily preventive maintenance inspections/repairs in assigned areas, including all task-related documentation.
  • Performs electrical safety checks in patient rooms.
  • Performs repairs/safety checks on non-patient equipment.
  • Investigates maintenance requests, demonstrating effective judgment and decision-making skills before seeking referral to other crafts.
  • Ensures all work done by other crafts is completed in assigned areas, taking ownership by monitoring others to assure completeness of repairs.
  • Enters supply rooms on nursing units as needed to perform job functions, refraining from manipulating or removing any intravenous fluids stored in the area.
  • Demonstrates dependability by working with other employees to accomplish tasks and ensuring open communication for successful task completion.
  • Maintains strong knowledge of life safety, patient safety, and infection prevention measures pertaining to craft trades.
  • Inspects fire/smoke rated doors and wall partitions for compliance with NFPA standards.
  • Conducts routine environmental and safety rounds.
