About The Position

This role involves performing all plant maintenance repairs, including troubleshooting production equipment such as tenoners, moulders, finger jointers, CNC routers, and PLC equipment. The technician will also operate a lathe, mill, and surface grinders to produce basic parts for repairs or projects, working with close tolerances to ensure maximum machine performance. Responsibilities include unloading, transporting, and installing machinery, working with factory representatives on set-up, and assisting in operator training. The role also involves developing the skills of other maintenance personnel, ordering specialty parts from vendors, completing required paperwork, and maintaining knowledge of chemicals used (Right to Know). The technician will take responsibility for projects and machine repairs to ensure quality and minimize downtime, and adjust machines to meet quality assurance standards. Basic knowledge of computer-assisted equipment and programmable controllers is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years experience as maintenance technician in a manufacturing company.
  • Associates degree in electromechanical technology or the willingness to pursue an associates degree in electromechanical technology.
  • Must provide complete set of own hand tools and lockable tool storage unit.
  • Must possess advanced skills in welding, hydraulics, pneumatics and intermediate electrical skills.
  • Must have the ability to perform safety procedures and lock-out/tag-out programs.
  • Must be able to perform work assignments using ladders, scaffolding, man lifts and tow motors.
  • Must be cooperative and work in a positive manner with other team members; exhibit leadership skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Must have the ability to maintain concentration and composure under stressful situations.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all plant maintenance repairs, including troubleshooting production equipment such as tenoners, moulders, finger jointers, CNC routers, and PLC equipment.
  • Operate lathe, mill, and surface grinders to produce basic parts needed on repairs or projects.
  • Work with close tolerances to ensure maximum machine performance.
  • Unload, transport and install machinery, working closely with factory representative on set-up as well as assist in operator training, if necessary.
  • Assist in developing knowledge and skills in other maintenance personnel when needed.
  • Possess basic knowledge of computer-assisted equipment and all the components parts (programmable controllers).
  • Estimate time and parts needed to complete machinery upgrades where effective cost control is a prime factor for consideration during this analysis.
  • Test live electrical circuits.
  • Order specialty parts from vendors.
  • Complete required paperwork, including timesheets, purchase requisitions, and work orders.
  • Understand and maintain knowledge of chemicals used (Right to Know).
  • Take responsibility on projects and machine repairs to ensure a quality job with a minimum amount of downtime.
  • Adjust machines to ensure quality assurance standards.
