About The Position

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the afternoon shift. This role involves performing routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical systems of production equipment and plant systems, including PLCs. The technician will ensure production machinery functions correctly and efficiently, troubleshoot and repair various systems, and adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines. Training will be provided during daytime hours.

Requirements

  • Strong Electrical and Mechanical aptitude required with extensive troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with Troubleshooting in a Production/Manufacturing Environment.
  • Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, industrial / electronic controls and power transmission systems.
  • Ability to install and set up both A/C and D/C drives.
  • Able to install and troubleshoot basic 3 phase motor control circuits.
  • Knowledge of the various types of sensors and limit switches.
  • A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Must be fully computer literate with Microsoft environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a mature and professional manner.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Basic mathematical skills and basic technology/computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability preferred.
  • Military training and/or Technical School preferred.
  • Corrugated background is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure production machinery functions correctly and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic, compressor, and vacuum systems.
  • Work on motors, conveyors, AC/DC, and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Work with steam and boiler controls, and mechanical power drives.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete timely and accurate paperwork.
