About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining equipment and facilities to operate in the safest and most productive condition, supporting continuous improvement, production strategies and plant reliability of snack food equipment and building maintenance. This role requires understanding and adherence to governmental regulatory programs and policies, including National Electrical Code, EPA, UBC, and local environmental agency policies. It also involves practicing and complying with all plant and maintenance department safety procedures, such as Lock-Out - Tag-Out, Arc Flash, and Hot Work Permits, and understanding Permit Required Confined Spaces. The technician must follow good manufacturing practices (GMPs), use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and attend training to maintain skill levels. Responsibilities include making improvements to optimize the maintenance program, executing and documenting work findings via a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and repairing/installing parts, tools, and equipment. Fabrication or modification of machines, tools, or equipment may also be required. The role involves performing Preventative Maintenance (PM), inspections, corrective repairs, special projects, and equipment rebuilds, as well as executing and resolving equipment breakdowns. Methodologies like root cause analysis (RCA), break down failure analysis (BDA), and cause maps are used to identify and resolve equipment issues. Predictive maintenance technologies such as ultrasound, thermal imaging, oil analysis, and vibration analysis are utilized to identify failures and take corrective actions. Documentation of failure causes and collaboration with the maintenance team to prevent reoccurrence are key. The technician must understand and interpret technical documents and diagrams, including factory manuals, blueprints, schematics, Single Line Electrical Drawings, mechanical and electrical equipment schematics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's). Maintenance and repair of facility systems (mechanical, electrical, building) and utility systems may also be performed. Additionally, the role may involve educating the operations team on autonomous maintenance (AM) concepts, including Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) and basic parts and tools usage. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Manufacturing Maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing facility performing mechanical and/or electrical inspections, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass plant-specific maintenance test.
  • Reads and interprets common technical journals.
  • Synthesizes complex or diverse information.
  • Carries out detailed written or oral instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Writes and presents information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Communicates/interacts with all levels of employees in a professional manner.
  • Works and functions as a team member in a team-based environment.
  • Performs simple arithmetic functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and mixed numbers).
  • Able to use precision measuring equipment.
  • Converts measurements from feet/inches to decimals and vice versa.
  • Draws and interprets bar graphs.
  • Uses a computer for data entry and documentation of maintenance findings on work orders.
  • Uploads and downloads technical manuals and specifications from CMMS or internet.
  • Must be able to use a basic calculator.
  • Requires attention to detail, mechanical ability, and ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to make good decisions under pressure.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must be Forklift certified or able to obtain forklift, aerial lifts certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college or formal technical school education with demonstrated aptitude and skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and welding techniques.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
  • Two years in food manufacturing environment experience.
  • Mechanical, electrical certifications/licenses preferred but not necessary.

  • Execute and resolve equipment breakdowns/repairs.
