About The Position

IDEX Materials Science Solutions (MSS) is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to support its thin-film coating operations, CNC machining, and production machining environment. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience with thin film coating technologies, hardware, and associated vacuum systems and electronics. This role is crucial for maintaining and improving the uptime and efficiency of critical production equipment.

Requirements

A minimum of a 2-year technical degree and 3+ years of experience with high-vacuum deposition, or 6+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with repair, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis of vacuum coating equipment issues.
Experience using measurement systems applied to thin film coating production, such as spectrophotometers, interferometers, oscilloscopes, and other electrical, optical, and mechanical test equipment.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Office.
Basic understanding of computer hardware and interfaces.
Willingness to work flexible work hours including weekends and/or holidays.
US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident status may be required due to ITAR/EAR controlled information.

Nice To Haves

Direct experience with ion sources and electron guns.
Formal electronics and vacuum training.
Experience with facility systems, including HVAC, compressed air, and chilled-water systems.

Responsibilities

Support the thin-film coating operation with vacuum equipment and electronics expertise.
Perform real-time troubleshooting of coating issues based on root cause assessment.
Support off-line improvement projects related to maintenance, uptime, and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).
Provide support for facility systems as needed.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to enhance process and equipment reliability.
