About The Position

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor and is responsible for all maintenance, repair, and modifications needed to maintain the company’s equipment and support systems in the process of raw and finished goods. The role involves setting up equipment and working with production departments to ensure production and efficiencies are met daily. The mechanic is responsible to ensure equipment runs properly on any lines and for the training, repair, removal, and installation of machines and equipment, as needed by production. The Production Maintenance Mechanic installs, sets up, and maintains production equipment to support efficient operations, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical issues on production lines and support equipment, and operates and maintains power and hand tools safely. They test and replace electrical components, read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams, collaborate with peers to resolve production issues, and assist with equipment upgrades and modifications. Advanced roles may include basic welding, wiring of circuits up to 480V, and leading/training junior technicians. The role requires working safely with chemicals and wearing appropriate PPE, supporting continuous improvement by maintaining detailed records, and participating in ongoing training. Other job duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in production maintenance or similar.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude; ability to learn new systems and tools.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to teamwork.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced, noisy environment.
  • Position requires the ability to wear a respirator and comply with the company's Respiratory Protection Program.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, sets up, and maintains production equipment to support efficient operations.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical issues on production lines and support equipment.
  • Operates and maintains power and hand tools safely for repair and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Tests and replaces electrical components such as fuses, cords, and plugs, using meters and probes.
  • Reads and interprets measurements, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams to perform setups, repairs, or upgrades.
  • Collaborates with peers and support teams to resolve production issues and keep lines running smoothly.
  • Assists with equipment upgrades, modifications, and part fabrication (advanced roles), including basic welding and wiring of circuits up to 480V.
  • Leads, trains, and directs junior technicians (advanced roles) to ensure task completion and knowledge sharing.
  • Works safely with chemicals and wear appropriate PPE such as respirators, when required.
  • Supports continuous improvement by maintaining detailed records and participating in ongoing training.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
