About The Position

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Maintenance Technician for its facility in Fontana, CA. This role is responsible for understanding and following all safety rules and precautions when working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus. The technician will deal with complex factors, make decisions based on findings, and install and repair various electrical equipment. They will also use welding equipment, electricians' hand tools, and measuring/testing equipment. The role involves diagnosing and correcting electrical system troubles, performing visual and mechanical inspections to ensure machinery is in good condition and producing quality products, and following the preventive maintenance program. Additionally, the technician will perform minor and major repairs on buildings, notify management of needed repairs to lighting, heating, and ventilation equipment, and provide on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics. The position requires ensuring compliance with safety standards, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment, executing repair procedures, maintaining good housekeeping, entering equipment repair history, and updating repair procedures. The technician may also be assigned additional projects or duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or recognized equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to electrical safety, strong troubleshooting skills, decision making skills, problem analysis and conflict management skills, particularly in pressure situations
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC and applicable OSHA standards
  • Hydraulics Experience
  • Pneumatics Experience
  • Proficient in reading and understanding electrical diagrams and technical manuals
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

  • Preferred experience as an Electrical Controls Technician in an industrial manufacturing facility

Responsibilities

  • Understands and follows all safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus
  • Deals with complex factors and makes decisions based on conclusions and findings
  • Installs and repairs various electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units and conduit systems.
  • Uses different welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, and flame cutting) for lay out and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures
  • Uses electricians’ hand tools and measuring/testing equipment
  • Diagnoses and corrects trouble in the electrical system or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
  • Performs visual and mechanical inspections to maintain machinery in good condition ensuring the production of finished quality products to order specifications
  • Follows the preventive maintenance program established by the company and conducts equipment inspections, taking preventative action when necessary
  • Performs minor and major repairs on buildings
  • Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment
  • Provides on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics and others assisting in maintenance work
  • Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in work area
  • Ensure compliance of applicable Safety Standards and procedures
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment
  • Execute equipment repair procedures
  • Ensure good housekeeping in work areas
  • Enter equipment repair history and close out work orders
  • Update repair procedures if needed
  • May be assigned additional projects or duties
