Maintenance Technician (full or part time)
About The Position
Chambliss Center for Children is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and welcoming atmosphere of agency buildings, grounds, and equipment across multiple locations in the Chattanooga area. The position offers full-time or part-time opportunities with a primary schedule of Monday-Friday daytime hours, though occasional evenings or weekends may be required for emergencies. The role involves completing maintenance work orders, performing general repairs, conducting inspections, and assisting with various facility needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of general building maintenance experience
- Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Ability to read and write in English
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check required for working around children
Responsibilities
- Complete maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance tasks
- Perform general repairs including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support
- Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance and safety issues
- Assist with moving, installing, or repairing furniture, fixtures, and equipment
- Maintain tools, supplies, and work areas in a safe and organized manner
- Pick up or deliver supplies, donated items, or equipment as needed
- Support overall facility operations and respond to urgent repair needs when necessary
