About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for multiple locations between Mt. Vernon and Carbondale, IL. This role involves maintaining equipment by troubleshooting, repairing, cleaning, and performing preventive maintenance. The technician will also facilitate repairs, maintain a safe and clean work environment, test new equipment, and maintain continuity among work teams through documentation and communication. Computer knowledge for email and computer-related forms is required, as is participation in training for existing and new equipment. The role also involves contributing to team efforts by accomplishing financial and Key Result Area targets and enhancing professional and technical knowledge through continuous learning.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
• 3-5 years’ experience of maintenance construction field or more preferred.
• Must have the manual dexterity to operate equipment, work in confined spaces, able to use power and hand tools, required crouching and/or crawling, and able to use a ladder.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing priorities and ability to work independently in high priority, confidential, demanding business environment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and must be insurable as a driver.
• Must be computer literate in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in telecommunications is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains equipment by troubleshooting, repairing, cleaning and maintaining related equipment; provides preventive maintenance.
• Facilitates repairs as required.
• Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Test new equipment as directed.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
• Will be required to participate in training for existing and new equipment.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Increases professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reading professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing Financial and Key Result Area targets pursuant to Company plan guidelines.
