This position performs inspections and extensive preventative maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating equipment parts, changing belts, replacing filters, checking fluid levels, and inspecting drives and motors. It involves performing detailed diagnostic tests, routine repairs, troubleshooting, and adjustment of equipment and facilities. The role includes inspecting, adjusting, and replacing components such as valves, pistons, and main bearing assemblies, as well as performing general mechanical overhaul and repair work on various systems. Minor welding, equipment modification, and fabrication of parts are also part of the duties. The technician will conduct in-depth diagnostic tests and major repairs, inspect hydraulic lines for leaks and damage, and disassemble/repair hydraulic components. They will observe system readouts to diagnose malfunctions, operate standard testing equipment, and respond to emergency maintenance requests. Daily work orders are managed and completed, and assistance is provided for new equipment installation and building renovations. The role requires identifying projects needing higher skill levels, keeping detailed records, and conserving maintenance resources. Obtaining correct replacement parts and maintaining a clean work area are essential. The position also involves growing technical knowledge through workshops and publications, maintaining a safe and clean working environment, and contributing to team efforts. The technician is responsible for alerting supervisors to unusual occurrences and maintaining professional conduct with all stakeholders. Mentoring lower-level maintenance employees and ensuring safety standards are followed are also key aspects. Supervision is not a primary responsibility, but direction may be provided when assisted by others. Special projects may also be assigned.
