About The Position

The Maintenance Technician provides general maintenance and construction support to company-owned and company-managed production facilities, with an emphasis on mechanical and yard maintenance. The role also covers plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, electrical work, and machine and vehicle servicing. The technician maintains farm properties, shops, equipment, fleet vehicles, production mechanisms, and buildings; assists with field operations and construction projects; and coordinates with vendors for supplies and support. The position requires following company safety, biosecurity, animal welfare, vehicle, documentation, and record-keeping requirements. Emergency repairs may require responding outside normal business hours while on call.

Requirements

Working knowledge of general mechanical skills, including general carpentry, welding, electrical, plumbing, and concrete experience.
Strong communication, multitasking, problem-solving, and forward-thinking skills.
Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record.

Previous experience in plumbing, painting, machine servicing, electrical work, and/or vehicle servicing, or a combination thereof.

Responsibilities

Maintain yards through mowing, weed control, snow removal, and related property upkeep.
Maintain and organize the shop.
Perform equipment maintenance, including welding and mechanical repairs.
Service farm fleet equipment and vehicles, including tractors, bobcats, semis, trucks, trailers, lawn mowers, four-wheelers, and generators.
Maintain farm inventory of filters, oil, repair parts, and other supplies.
Support field operations and work with custom farming operators as directed.
Maintain, repair, and rebuild production mechanisms and equipment, including loading chutes, crates, gates, ventilation components, curtains, power washers, and feed and water systems.
Maintain company-owned buildings and prevent deterioration, including repairs to partitions, walls, roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, and concrete.
Perform general and preventative maintenance and repairs on air-conditioning and heating systems.
Perform general plumbing repairs and installations and minor electrical repairs and installations.
Plan and complete new construction, minor remodeling, and ad hoc projects as assigned.
Complete required company documentation and record keeping accurately and on time.
Develop and maintain knowledge of procedures and safety measures related to plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, machine servicing, electrical work, and vehicle servicing.
Coordinate with vendors to obtain parts and supplies and secure assistance for escalated projects.
Support and follow the company's animal welfare policy, promote animal well-being, remedy conditions that impede animal care, and report suspected mistreatment or abuse.
Follow company vehicle policies and applicable local, state, and federal motor vehicle regulations.
Demonstrate, promote, and follow company safety policies and biosecurity protocols.
Respond to emergencies after normal business hours when required and remain available while on call.
