About The Position

Sion Power is seeking a Maintenance Technician for its research and development facility in Tucson, Arizona. The role supports the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of facility systems in an active industrial and battery-manufacturing environment. Approximately 75% of the position focuses on inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing cooling, HVAC, and dehumidification systems that support temperature- and humidity-controlled manufacturing and laboratory environments. The remaining 25% supports general facility maintenance assigned by the Facilities Manager. The technician identifies equipment issues early, troubleshoots mechanical and electrical systems, coordinates specialized vendor support when needed, and helps minimize interruptions to site operations. Work is primarily during normal facility operating hours, with occasional after-hours, weekend, or emergency response when critical systems have problems. The role involves work in laboratory, production, warehouse, utility, mechanical, office, and exterior areas, potentially around electrical equipment, rotating machinery, HVAC equipment, chemicals, compressed gases, and other industrial hazards. Appropriate training and PPE will be provided or required based on the work.

  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls, sensors, VFDs, motors, pumps, and control circuits.
  • EPA Section 608 certification, particularly if performing refrigerant-related service.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or other high-reliability facility environments.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, perform preventive maintenance on, troubleshoot, and repair site cooling, HVAC, and dehumidification equipment.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, airflow, temperature, humidity, sensor, control, and equipment alarm issues.
  • Support systems serving temperature- and humidity-controlled manufacturing, laboratory, and dry-room environments.
  • Inspect and maintain filters, belts, motors, bearings, fans, coils, condensate systems, pumps, valves, dampers, sensors, and related equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting building automation and HVAC control systems, including temperature and relative-humidity sensors and alarms.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations and the site's preventive maintenance program.
  • Document inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, equipment conditions, and identified deficiencies.
  • Respond to cooling, humidity, and HVAC equipment alarms or operational concerns and help restore systems to normal operating conditions.
