About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall daily care of the campus buildings and grounds and will assist the Director of Facilities and the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor with daily operations and maintenance tasks as required. The candidate should ascribe to the Statement of School Philosophy and be comfortable with such Academy watchwords as the Five Stars, the Academy Triangle, and Classical Education. He/She should recognize that the Academy is a private independent school for both practical and philosophical reasons, and that private education is seen here as an ideal, as well as a means to an end. There should be a belief in the value of substantive learning and in the school's academic mission, as well as concurrence with the broader philosophical stance identified in the Mission Statement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license which must be maintained throughout employment, an acceptably safe driving record, ability to drive various vehicles including trucks, straight trucks, and buses.
  • Ability to safely lift loads in excess of 50 lbs., climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, and navigate adverse weather or environment conditions.
  • Above-average technical aptitude; including knowledge and ability to service, repair, and maintain small engine equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform related working procedures in landscape and site maintenance, including but not limited to: Operation and maintenance of mowing equipment, General landscape repair including weed control and irrigation components, Tree and shrub installation, pruning, and maintenance, Operation of snow removal equipment and de-icing procedures.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform related working procedures in building maintenance, including but not limited to: Operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment, Routine HVAC filter changes including RTU’s, Repair of door locks, closers, and general safety infrastructure, General/basic plumbing repairs, Electrical repairs and troubleshooting, Repairs and troubleshooting of lighting components such as ballasts/drivers, Painting, drywall, and wallpaper repairs, Basic carpentry and woodworking skills, Carpet, VCT, and LVP repairs and maintenance, General inspection and documentation of outdoor playground equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to qualify for and maintain a CDL license with passenger endorsement.
  • Prior experience in a school or similar environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Overall daily care of the campus buildings and grounds.
  • Assist the Director of Facilities and the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor with daily operations and maintenance tasks.
  • Work in coordination with facilities staff in preparation for and after school functions, events, and ceremonies.
  • Work outdoors for extended periods of time on tasks such as sports field lining, snow removal, or directing traffic, regardless of weather conditions.
  • Assist with general housekeeping and custodial duties as required.
  • Assist with inventory control of custodial and maintenance equipment and supplies.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, or other continuing education programs as may be required.
  • Maintain maintenance equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Assist with routine and emergency repairs as may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Buildings and Grounds Supervisor.
