About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of machines, tools, and equipment through effective repairs, maintenance, and installation. This role also involves performing maintenance on utility systems, assisting with preventive maintenance programs, and inspecting equipment for operational standards. The technician will manage department inventory, assist with Hazard Communication and safety procedures, and respond to work orders. Regular and predictable attendance is essential, and some travel may be required. On-call and overtime duties may also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years’ relevant work experience in a facilities, maintenance or building technician role.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours and weekend assignments.
  • Knowledge of manual and electrical hand tools.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift, light truck and other related motorized equipment.
  • High school or vocational school diploma and minimum of four years related trades training or equivalent work experience in maintenance and equipment repair is required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Work involves frequent periods of standing and walking, which may include climbing ladders and staircases.
  • Work involves stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning and reaching; bending at the waist.
  • Indoor/ outdoor work environment with exposure to extreme weather.
  • Must be able to perceive the nature of sound, utilize near and far vision, depth perception, provide oral information, and possess the manual dexterity to handle and work with various materials and objects.

  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Controls preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, maintains, and installs machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous operations.
  • Performs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Assists in an ongoing preventive maintenance program in conjunction with other engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Identifies low levels in department inventory; maintains inventory including proper storage and knowledge of use.
  • Assists in compliance with Hazard Communication Program, including Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), labeling, storing and handling of materials, etc.
  • Assists with the identification of safety procedures, equipment and protective clothing requirements.
  • Responds to work orders as directed by management.
  • Assists in the application of key control policies and procedures.
  • Periodically perform on call and overtime duties as outlined by the General Manager.
