About The Position

Bear Real Estate Group is seeking reliable and skilled Maintenance Technicians to support our exceptional property, East National Flats. Our Maintenance team plays a critical role in maintaining safe, attractive, and well-functioning communities while delivering excellent service to our residents. Depending on experience and skill level, Maintenance Technicians may be responsible for routine maintenance and repairs, as well as more advanced troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, unit turnovers, and technical support. The ideal candidate is dependable, solutions-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining a high standard of quality throughout the property.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework or certifications preferred.
  • Entry-Level Technician: 0–2 years of general maintenance or trade experience.
  • Experienced/Technician II: 3–5+ years of residential, multi-housing, or facilities maintenance experience.
  • Ability to perform basic plumbing, electrical, appliance, HVAC, and painting tasks.
  • For more advanced positions, demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex maintenance issues.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn, follow direction, and work independently as experience increases.
  • Experience training or mentoring junior staff is preferred for advanced-level positions.
  • Must provide and maintain personal hand tools required to perform job duties.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including painting, minor plumbing and electrical work, appliance repairs, and HVAC maintenance
  • Diagnose and repair moderate-to-complex issues involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems as experience and skill level permit
  • Respond to resident service requests promptly, professionally, and with a strong customer-service mindset
  • Complete emergency and high-priority maintenance requests as part of the scheduled on-call rotation
  • Maintain property grounds, common areas, curb appeal, and overall community cleanliness
  • Prepare vacant units for new residents, including cleaning, painting, touch-ups, fixture repairs, and ensuring appliances and systems are functioning properly
  • Complete detailed unit turnovers efficiently and to established quality standards
  • Conduct unit and building inspections, identify deficiencies, and ensure necessary repairs are completed
  • Document work completed, unit readiness, inspection findings, and maintenance activities
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment
  • Maintain accurate inspection and safety logs, including snow removal, lighting, elevators, pools, lift stations, fire systems, and other property-specific systems
  • Monitor and report supply, tool, equipment, and repair needs
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance and property projects
  • Participate in obtaining bids for repairs and projects and provide information or recommendations to the Property Manager
  • Work collaboratively with Property Managers, maintenance team members, vendors, and residents
  • Support senior maintenance staff and assist at other properties as needed
  • For experienced Technicians, provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior maintenance staff
  • Assist with larger projects, including system upgrades, renovations, and capital improvements
  • Provide advanced maintenance support across properties when needed
  • Travel between nearby properties for maintenance support, inspections, projects, and emergency needs
  • Maintain professionalism and strong communication when working with residents, vendors, and team members across communities
