About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the buildings and properties of St. Francis Catholic Academy and its related properties. This role ensures that all facilities and grounds are clean, neat, and appealing, and that the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems are in good working order.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate mowers and small equipment related to maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, and follow through.
  • High level of attention to maintenance and repair in terms of quality and detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability and experience to work in a team environment with other personnel.
  • Interpersonal skills including tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal background check.
  • High school degree or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the school property in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Responds to work orders in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical furnaces/boilers, and air conditioners, or makes recommendations for outsourcing.
  • Maintains all aspects of grounds and buildings, including mowing, trimming, pesticide and herbicide applications, pruning, planter bed maintenance, painting, weeding, and trash removal.
  • Assists with inventory of all equipment.
  • Provides regular scheduled maintenance and repair of all equipment and tools.
  • May train others on the use or handling of specific tools, equipment, or vehicles.
  • Conducts regular inspections of property and building concerns to proactively address issues.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a level of personal grooming and appearance befitting the school environment.
  • Performs any and all other duties as assigned.
