About The Position

Oakbrook Corporation is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join their team at Parkside Commons, a vibrant 100-unit, 55+ community. In this role, you'll help create a comfortable, safe, and well-maintained environment for residents while working alongside a team that values integrity, customer service, accountability, and teamwork. The position involves a variety of tasks, from completing service requests and troubleshooting maintenance issues to conducting preventative maintenance and preparing apartments for new residents, playing a key role in ensuring Parkside Commons remains a welcoming and attractive community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must provide personal hand tools required for the position
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to lift, carry, climb, and perform physical maintenance duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • A commitment to quality workmanship
  • Professional and respectful communication with residents, vendors, and team members
  • The ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance
  • Ability to manage multiple maintenance projects and service requests
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in residential property maintenance or a related field preferred
  • Trade school education or relevant certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and other building components
  • Complete assigned work orders efficiently and professionally
  • Assist with apartment turnovers, including preparing units for new residents
  • Conduct routine, preventative, and scheduled maintenance throughout the community
  • Maintain grounds, common areas, and building amenities to company standards
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor services as needed
  • Perform safety inspections and identify potential maintenance concerns
  • Assist with maintaining repair and maintenance budgets
  • Respond to emergencies and report accidents or safety concerns promptly
  • Support nearby Oakbrook communities when needed
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule

  • Perform other duties as assigned
