About The Position

Guardian Energy Hankinson has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join the team! As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the safe repair and maintenance of the manufacturing site’s equipment to ensure maximum production, quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

Requirements

  • 2 years experience in maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; pumps, valves, compressors, electrical or Instrumentation required.
  • Knowledge of and strict attention to safety precautions and rules required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with internal and external customers, use tact and diplomacy, and possess a customer service focus.
  • Strong analytical abilities, problem solving skills, negotiation skills, dispute resolution and ability to overcome obstacles.
  • Manage multiple priorities with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and accomplish necessary tasks.
  • Strong motivational ability.
  • Act with honesty and integrity.
  • The work is completed in the standing, kneeling or crouched position.
  • Some projects will require standing for extended periods on various surfaces, including concrete, grating, and uneven surfaces.
  • The ability to get into and maneuver in tight conditions is required in the role.
  • Exposure to loud noises, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, confined spaces, extreme hot and extreme cold temperatures for extended periods of time are required in the position.
  • The ability to climb ladders and work at elevations up to and exceeding 175 feet is required.
  • An ability to speak and listen clearly is required in the role.
  • Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy and troubleshoot equipment is required frequently in the role.
  • The ability to feel and sense hot and cold are frequently required.
  • Lifting of up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Nice To Haves

  • PLC; relay logic troubleshooting; able to diagnose motor and drive failures.
  • Ability to provide solutions quickly and accurately even in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work well with others and be self-directed with only general supervision.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment in the plant.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics / drawings.
  • Rigging knowledge/experience.
  • Knowledge/experience operating mobile equipment including but not limited to forklift, telehandler, scissor lift, man basket.
  • College degree or technical degree/certification; millwright, electrician, welder, pipe-fitter or Instrumentation preferred.
  • Welding knowledge and experience on carbon / stainless steel preferred.
  • Experience with a computerized Preventative Maintenance System preferred.
  • Forklift certified or capable of achieving certification.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Repair or replace plant equipment or systems on both a scheduled and emergency basis.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities on a routine basis.
  • Communicate and collaborate directly with all other departments to coordinate maintenance and repair work.
  • Assist with diagnosing and troubleshooting maintenance related issues within the department and with other departments.
  • Assist with new installations and other projects, as requested.
  • Participate in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
  • Be available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis as required.
  • Participate in revolving call-in schedule with other Maintenance Technicians.
  • Troubleshoot to determine root cause of equipment failure and perform corrective maintenance accordingly.
  • Performs inspection, calibration, repair, testing, adjustment, and installation of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Perform and document maintenance, calibration, installation, fault diagnosis and repair of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic instruments and systems.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot and repair plant instrumentation i.e., transmitters, control valves, switches, relays, etc.
