About The Position

To diagnose malfunctions in production machinery and equipment. Repair and maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer's specifications. May set up and operate metal working machinery and tools, such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders to make and repair parts. Performs preventive maintenance on all the plastic extrusion lines and related equipment.

Requirements

Eye protection is required everywhere in the plant.
Hearing protection is required everywhere in the plant.
Safety toed shoes or boots are required everywhere in the plant.
Cut gloves are required to be worn on the opposite hand you use to hold a knife when cutting.
Maximum weight allowed to be lifted by one person is 80 pounds. Anything heavier requires the aid from another person, forklift, big joe, or roll handlers.
Face shields are required to be worn anytime you are over the die during start-up.
Each machine is equipped with multiple safety switches and devices. Although the features are not the same for each machine, they all have safety devices in place to help protect you. These include pressure sensitive mats, light curtains, pull cords, and emergency stop buttons.
Reaction Time- The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
Manual Dexterity- The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
Control Precision- The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
Finger Dexterity- The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
Arm-Hand Steadiness- The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
Near Vision- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Responsibilities

Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
Clean, lubricate, adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
Repairs, replaces, adjusts, and aligns components of machinery and equipment.
Test-runs repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.
Fabricates replacement parts.
Welds to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
Orders or requisitions parts and materials.
Repairs and replaces electrical wiring and components of machinery.
Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
Records repairs and maintenance performed.
Required to be on a rotating call out schedule.
Keeps maintenance department clear and organized by replacing used tools and equipment.
Confers with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
Repairing machines or systems using the needed tool.
Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Selecting and determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Installing new or used equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
Being able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
You must conform with PPE requirements and Safety Rules.
