Job Details: This position will be primarily responsible for completing fabrication projects that support manufacturing processes. The role involves interpreting drawings, cutting and grinding materials, welding and fabricating custom components, and ensuring all finished work meets quality and safety standards. The Welder/Fabricator will work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to support production needs and continuous improvement initiatives. Overtime: Employees must be willing to work daily and weekend overtime as business conditions require. Overtime will be paid for all hours worked in excess of forty hours in any one week.

Requirements

  • Welding certification and trade/technical school required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in welding and metal fabrication, or an equivalent combination of education and hands‑on experience.
  • Experience with industrial fabrication equipment (saws, grinders, shears, presses, torches, etc.).
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding; ability to produce clean, accurate welds.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and technical documents, including understanding metal properties, weld symbols, and tolerances.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to complete basic sketches or provide input for design improvements.
  • Proficient with standard measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, squares, etc.).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot fabrication or fitment issues.
  • Ability to communicate to operations and manufacturing engineering staff in a technical and accurate manner.
  • Ability to create routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance management.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience fabricating components for industrial or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Forklift / rigging experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and implement industrial components, equipment structures, brackets, fixtures, and other assemblies according to drawings, specifications, or verbal instructions.
  • Perform high‑quality welding (MIG, TIG, stick) on a variety of metals.
  • Operate equipment including welders, saws, grinders, drills, cutting torches, soldering irons, and other shop tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to determine welding/fabrication requirements, measurements, and layouts.
  • Assist with design of custom fixtures, jigs, and assemblies to enhance manufacturability, safety, or durability.
  • Fit and assemble components using measuring instruments, layout tools, and best practices to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Document fabrication activities, material usage, and modifications as required.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on worn or damaged equipment to produce recommendations for machinery enhancements.
  • Maintain effective lines of communication between manufacturing personnel, supervisory personnel, management, and outside contacts as required.
  • Working with Maintenance staff including training for best practices for welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Ordering materials necessary to complete fabrication projects.
  • Interface with eMaint computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) system.
  • Assist in maintaining fabrication inventory, including cataloguing of components, establishing min/max inventory levels, and ordering spares as needed.
  • Maintain and document repair history for use in trend analysis.
  • Close work orders.
  • Observe all safety practices and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel‑toe shoes are required at all times while on the manufacturing floor. Task‑specific PPE (e.g. welding helmets, gloves, etc.) must be worn whenever performing work that requires it. The Company provides all necessary PPE with the exception of steel‑toe shoes, which must be supplied by the employee. New hires will be eligible for our safety shoe acquisition program which provides a discount for safety shoes purchased through our contracted distributor.
