About The Position

The Maintenance Technician – Processing maintains, modifies and occasionally designs equipment layouts, estimates costs, and builds plant equipment under slight supervision. This role is responsible for the mechanical/electrical care, maintenance, and operability of all associated equipment in accordance with safety, quality, specifications, federal guidelines and company policies.

Requirements

  • Requires Industrial Maintenance Mechanic and/or State Mechanical Journeyman certification, or equivalent experience and demonstrated competency; additionally, candidate must possess basic electrical knowledge—including electrical/instrumentation tech school credits, OJT, or millwright coursework (2008 or later)—or equivalent experience and demonstrated competency.
  • Demonstrates safe working practices with 480 volt three-phase power, possesses basic knowledge of electrical systems (power distribution, control wiring, PLCs, VFDs, servos), performs troubleshooting and component replacement, interprets VFD faults, and sets up codes on coders; does not perform installation or programming of advanced systems.
  • Must have own tools to perform related tasks safely.
  • Must possess strong knowledge and ability to interpret mechanical and electrical prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams relevant to the field.
  • Maintains a continuous learning mindset and adapts quickly to new equipment, processes, and roles.
  • Demonstrates strong technical ability with a digital-first approach, embracing new technologies and accurately entering data.
  • Communicates clearly with all levels of the organization, follows instructions (written/oral/diagram form), and completes necessary documentation independently in English.
  • Pays close attention to detail, prioritizing product quality, safety, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Physically capable of meeting job requirements and consistently brings a positive, team-focused attitude to work.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, technical proficiency, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills while working independently or collaboratively to ensure effective and logical decision-making in diverse situations.
  • Demonstrates the physical capability to bend frequently and lift heavy objects (up to 40 pounds), alongside proficiency in safely operating Powered Industrial Vehicles to support workplace operations.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes job safety, participates in developing plant safety goals, policies, and maintains compliance with OSHA and NEC/70E codes.
  • Operates, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains mechanical, electrical, and automated plant systems using specialized tools and technical expertise.
  • Performs assigned and emergency maintenance tasks, including lubrication, electrical work, and responding efficiently to trouble calls.
  • Accurately completes required reports, work orders, and records within the CMMS system, maintaining proper documentation and supporting quality processes.
  • Ensures repair areas are properly cleaned to meet food safety guidelines; collaborates with team members and provides technical support as needed.
