About The Position

Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) is seeking a Maintenance Technician/Plant Operator Trainer to join their team. This role involves organizing, assisting, directing, and performing construction work on-site to provide electrical energy to member villages through a diesel generation and distribution system. A significant portion of the role involves traveling to AVEC Villages to train Power Plant Operators on power plant maintenance, fuel handling, minor repairs, and switchgear operation. As part of the traveling field staff, this position plays a key role in maintaining positive relationships with member-owners and village councils, and in building their understanding and confidence in AVEC's value, mission, and goals. The position requires approximately 80% travel throughout the year, offering opportunities to experience Alaska's natural beauty.

Responsibilities

Organize, assist, direct, and perform construction work on-site to serve member villages with electrical energy.
Travel to AVEC Villages to train Power Plant Operators on maintaining the power plant.
Train Power Plant Operators on how to receive and transfer fuel.
Train Power Plant Operators on how to complete minor repairs.
Train Power Plant Operators on switchgear operation.
Maintain good relations with member-owners and village councils.
Build member-owners' and village councils' understanding and confidence in AVEC's value, mission, and goals.
