About The Position

Performs routine and project work in connection with patching, plastering, taping, painting, wall covering and minor masonry repairs. Individuals in these categories are required to communicate and cooperate with other departments in order to begin on schedule and finish on schedule; explaining their proceedings to secure consent, approval or cooperation to prevent confusion or inconvenience, reporting electrical, mechanical or other safety aspects encountered in the work sequences. Supervisor suggests courses of action, but the individual is expected to use independent judgement in planning and arraigning some of the work. Using materials, chemicals, equipment and tools wisely, safely and properly selected for the various structures or situations.

Requirements

  • High school and trade school (preferred).
  • Minimum of a total of five (5) years experience in two (2) or more of the trades described in the basic function.
  • Must be physically able to work off of ladders and scaffolds.
  • Must have the ability to stand or bend for considerable periods of time.
  • Physically fit to work within the building or outside temperatures.

  • Cooperates and sympathizes with other employees, patients, visitors, etc., to avoid interference during restoration.
  • Maintains his working area in a clean and well-organized manner to minimize inconvenience or interruptions of other hospital operations.
  • Prepares rooms or areas for painting, wall covering, or other architectural decorating work.
  • Applies plasters, taping cements, spackling patches, and other trade materials for various structures or surfaces to be painted.
  • Repairs concrete sidewalks and masonry structures to be painted.
  • Installs and grouts wall tiles.
  • Mixes paint colors using a custom color dispenser formulation.
  • Applies all types of paints by brush or roller.
  • Installs and repairs paper and/or fabric wall coverings.
  • Installs and repairs cove bases.
  • Refinishes old and new furniture, doors, cabinets, equipment, etc.
  • Removes, replaces, and/or rearranges roof furniture, equipment, fixtures, etc., where he performs his function.
  • Maintains, maneuvers, and uses materials, tools, and equipment safely and wisely.
  • Reports, assists, or corrects unsafe situations or facilities pertaining to other Engineering or Custom Services tasks.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures related to mandatory education and annual health assessment.
  • Completes continuing education records and forwards them to Human Resources annually regarding mandatory educational requirements.
  • Completes annual health assessment form as required and maintains current inoculations.
