About The Position

The Maintenance Technician/Mechanic is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of plant facilities, equipment, and machinery. This includes welding fabrication, preventative maintenance, electrical and plumbing repairs, carpentry, and general building upkeep. The role requires strong diagnostic skills, the ability to interpret blueprints and manuals, and a commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.

Requirements

  • Proficient with MIG, TIG, Stick, cutting torches, grinders, drills, and working with metal, pipe, and flat iron.
  • Proficient with pumps, gearboxes, augers, grinders, mixers, conveyors, filling machines and sealers.
  • Proficient with three phase and single phase circuitry.
  • Reliable presence and promptness on premises.
  • Ability to communicate with Supervisors, Associates, and Contractors for work projects.
  • Project management including task sequencing, resource management, scheduling.
  • Specialty Skills such as welding, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc.
  • Researching information.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Performing general physical activities, handling and moving objects.
  • Able to work well with other and organize own activities.
  • Complete all jobs with a sense of urgency and cooperation with others.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding fabrication including layout and design, and repair of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance and emergency/unscheduled repairs on plant facilities, equipment, and machinery.
  • Assemble, install and/or repair electrical on three phase and single phase circuitry.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Replace or repair defective equipment and parts.
  • Perform minor building repair and upkeep.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Inspect, operate, and test plant facilities, equipment, and machinery.
  • Procure and maintain an optimum inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies adequately organized in storage.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Ability to be fit tested and don a mask.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
