About The Position

This position is responsible for performing routine and non-routine types of preventive and on-going maintenance, including repairs in the areas of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and machine servicing. The role ensures equipment, parts, and service manuals are maintained according to guidelines, and that equipment and the facility are in good and safe working order. The technician will also perform preventative maintenance, control downtime by informing production workers of techniques, and maintain a clean and orderly work area. This position operates within a 24/7 facility and requires availability for a specific shift.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year technical degree or equivalent knowledge.
  • Certification in one or more maintenance-related trades (refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, millwright, plumbing, machining, etc.).
  • Forklift/scissor lift certification (ability to obtain and maintain).
  • Boiler's license (ability to obtain and maintain).
  • Special Engineering license at a minimum.
  • Hazwoper certification (ability to obtain and maintain).
  • Lock out/tag out (LOTO) certification (ability to obtain and maintain).
  • Five or more years' experience in packaging and food processing repair and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to follow all food, personal, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with USDA, FDA, OSHA, AIB, and all other regulatory agencies while complying with good manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to respond to continually changing priorities and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to weld with MIG, TIG & STICK.
  • Computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and understand instructions, equipment manuals, mechanical and electrical schematics and blueprints, as well as food safety, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of equipment and tools in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of facility maintenance and HVAC systems.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and equipment troubleshooting abilities and skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide own tools.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Automation technology packaging and manufacturing system graduation certification.
  • Experience with CMMS and PM systems.
  • HVAC and ammonia system experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine preventive and ongoing maintenance (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, machine servicing).
  • Follow equipment/tool repair and maintenance guidelines for preventive and routine maintenance to assure product quality, availability, and freshness.
  • Ensure established equipment, parts, and service manuals inventory guidelines are followed and maintain ongoing inventory reports.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, work tools, and the facility to ensure they are in good/safe working order, adhering to company, city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock and anticipating needs.
  • Perform equipment and building preventative maintenance according to the established schedule.
  • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring workspace and storage areas are free from debris and clutter.
  • Report unsafe work environments to management.
  • Perform all other related assignments, including special projects, as required.
