About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Facilities Maintenance Technician II supports Cardlock fueling locations by troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing fueling equipment and facility systems. This advanced-level role requires independent decision-making, technical expertise, and the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues while serving as a resource for less experienced technicians. The Maintenance Technician II plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining safe, efficient operations across assigned locations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record; frequent regional travel required.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school, trade certification, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, fueling systems, petroleum equipment, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or related technical field.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in the use of mobile devices, work order systems, and maintenance software applications.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, climbing, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, fuel dispensers, tank monitoring systems, POS systems, and general building maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience servicing fueling equipment, fuel management systems, or convenience store facilities.
  • Experience with Gilbarco, Wayne, PDI, Veeder-Root, or similar fueling and fuel management systems.
  • Electrical, HVAC, petroleum equipment, or trade-related certifications.
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Previous experience mentoring technicians or leading maintenance projects.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance, petroleum regulations, and underground storage tank systems.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prioritize, manage, and complete daily work orders received through email, phone, text, and automated dispatch systems to ensure timely resolution and minimal operational disruption.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fueling equipment, fuel management systems, dispensers, tank monitoring systems, POS equipment, and associated site infrastructure.
  • Perform advanced root-cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce future downtime.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance inspections on fueling equipment, building systems, and site infrastructure in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment by following company policies, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications to perform repairs and installations.
  • Complete detailed service documentation, including troubleshooting findings, repair actions, parts usage, and labor tracking within the dispatch and maintenance management systems.
  • Repair, replace, calibrate, and test equipment components to restore proper system operation and ensure equipment performance standards are met.
  • Coordinate parts procurement through company inventory, automated ordering systems, vendors, and suppliers while maintaining appropriate vehicle stock levels.
  • Perform startup, commissioning, and operational testing of repaired or newly installed equipment.
  • Communicate repair status, project updates, and estimated completion timelines with supervisors, site personnel, vendors, and contractors.
  • Escalate major equipment failures, regulatory concerns, and specialized technical issues to the Maintenance Supervisor when additional resources or contractor support are required.
  • Lead or assist with facility upgrades, equipment replacements, and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Train and mentor Maintenance Technician I team members by sharing troubleshooting knowledge, maintenance best practices, and safety procedures.
  • Support emergency response activities and respond to after-hours service calls within established response time requirements.
  • Perform routine facility maintenance including electrical, plumbing, lighting, painting, carpentry, landscaping, and general building repairs.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and preventive maintenance enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, environmental, and safety regulations related to fueling operations and facility maintenance.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
