Maintenance Technician IV Day Crew (A Crew 6:45AM to 7PM 2/2/3)
About The Position
The Maintenance Technician IV is responsible for independently diagnosing and repairing equipment issues to minimize downtime. This role involves troubleshooting electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures on complex industrial equipment, utilizing VFDs, motor control systems, HMIs, and PLC logic. The technician will also support production line performance, manage work orders, perform preventative and predictive maintenance, contribute to 6S, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives, and assist with line commissioning and startup. Effective team collaboration and knowledge sharing are essential.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to work independently with limited direction.
- Strong history of troubleshooting industrial equipment in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with Electrical & electronic systems.
- Proficiency with Motor controllers, VFDs, relays, sensors.
- Proficiency with Mechanical systems.
- Proficiency with Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Experience navigating PLC ladder logic for troubleshooting (programming not required, but troubleshooting is).
- Forklift experience required (must complete Return Polymers forklift certification).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs+ and maneuver large, heavy equipment.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and work in varying temperature environments.
- Ability to wear PPE at all times.
- Must pass a Physical Abilities Test.
Nice To Haves
- Welding experience (stick or wire) is a plus.
- Technical training, two-year maintenance certification, or trade school background is preferred.
- Welding certifications are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Independently diagnose and repair equipment issues with a focus on minimizing downtime.
- Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures on complex industrial equipment.
- Utilize VFDs, motor control systems, HMIs, and PLC logic (Allen-Bradley preferred) for troubleshooting purposes.
- Maintain and improve production line performance through rapid response to equipment failures.
- Reduce mean time to repair (MTTR) and prevent repeat failures through strong root-cause analysis.
- Work autonomously to plan, prioritize, and complete work orders per shift.
- Maintain an 85%+ on-time completion rate for assigned work orders.
- Own scheduled PM tasks, ensuring completion and accuracy.
- Identify risks before breakdowns occur and recommend improvements to prevent recurring issues.
- Support reliability efforts, contributing to reduced unplanned downtime.
- Lead by example on 6S expectations and uptime improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to TPM activities and equipment health checks.
- Support improvement projects that increase throughput, speed, or reliability.
- Commission equipment after maintenance, ensuring smooth and accurate startup with minimal adjustments required.
- Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, and fellow maintenance techs.
- Share knowledge with team members and help elevate best practices across shifts.
