About The Position

We are actively hiring for a Maintenance Technician III, a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits. This role is crucial for maintaining our production, HVAC, facility equipment, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be proactive in detecting and correcting errors to prevent damage to equipment and products. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming to repair sophisticated equipment. Responsibilities include performing tear downs, rebuilds, preventive maintenance, and testing equipment to ensure smooth operation. Additionally, this role involves training junior maintenance technicians and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. For our SQF Certified Sites, a basic understanding of cGMPs and Good Hygiene Personnel Practices is required, along with the ability to identify and address food safety and quality issues. This includes following specific SOPs for non-conforming products and adhering to all company policies, including GMPs, safety, HACCP, and SQF.

Requirements

  • High School or Vo-Tech School graduate with 5+ years related experience or training.
  • Completed certification in maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or other equipment related discipline.
  • Reliable self-starter with good attendance record.
  • Proficient in basic computer use with the ability to learn and use new systems quickly & efficiently.
  • Proficient in maintenance management system.
  • Safely operate and use standard shop equipment.
  • Working knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics and electronics and computer programming.
  • Working knowledge of equipment and machinery calibration.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in math skills (imperial & metric), as well as measurement and use of measurement tools.
  • Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work well with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations, manage priorities and crises situations in a professional manner.
  • Read blueprints, electrical, hydraulic and ladder logic and operational procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving ability – can troubleshoot down to component level on a wide range of equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to calibrate a wide range of equipment and machinery.
  • Time-management – highly organized with ability to adapt to changing situations, manage priorities and crisis situations.
  • Work independently and in a team environment as well as take direction from others.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills- ability to work well with all levels in the organization.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor.
  • The ability to read, write, and comprehend information provided.
  • Ability to develop and train Maintenance Technician I, II and Automation Technician.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading continuous improvement, six sigma or lean manufacturing projects.
  • Forklift Certified.
  • Knowledge and/or previous experience in blow molding, injection molding or extrusion molding.
  • Experience with processing or troubleshooting of plastics manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with hands-on work with pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics and computer programming.
  • Ability to successfully lead and drive continuous improvement, six sigma or lean manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Keep Production, HVAC, facility equipment and infrastructure in good working order.
  • Detect and correct errors before the machine, or the products it produces, are damaged.
  • Effectively operate equipment as required.
  • Take equipment apart to repair or replace necessary parts.
  • Repair sophisticated equipment using knowledge of electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
  • Test machines after repair to ensure they are running correctly and smoothly.
  • Perform tear downs, rebuilds, and preventive maintenance.
  • Participate in development and training of maintenance technician I employees.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including overtime, as needed based on production demands.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to and communicate Health, Safety, and Quality policies, including use of PPE.
  • Perform Basic Sanitation Functions.
  • Notify SQF Practitioner and/or Supervisor of any repairs or adjustments that are required.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, and/or Regulatory Requirements / standards as prioritized by the Company, HACCP, and SQF.
  • Notify SQF Practitioner/Quality Manager or any other Management personnel of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues.
  • Identify problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the raw material, processes, quality system, or safety system, by performing Production/Quality Checks as assigned.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Execute and follow the HOLD SOP.
  • Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Follow all Food Fraud/Food Defense Policies while on company property.
  • Adhere to safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Wear company-issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as uniforms, gloves, hairnets.
