About The Position

This position will provide support to our Medical Devices, Vascular manufacturing facility in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks and Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. This role will be responsible for performing the functions of calibrations and preventive maintenance on all test and measurement equipment throughout all manufacturing operations. This position impacts the accuracy of the process and measurement equipment, the quality of the product and is essential in achieving the Quality System Requirements and other compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in industrial Mechanics, Electronics, Electricity, Instrumentation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial mechanics, electronics, instrumentation or related area, preferably in medical device industry.
  • Experience in equipment calibration and preventive maintenance.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to read schematic drawings of equipment, measuring instruments and others.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of quality regulations and standards that affect medical devices (i.e. FDA Quality Systems and Regulations).
  • Knowledge of safety and OSHA regulations for corporations, local area and state.

Responsibilities

  • Performs precise calibrations / maintenance in accordance with the procedures written on test and measurement equipment, tools, calibrations and fixed installations, as defined by the calibration and / or maintenance itinerary.
  • On equipment that cannot be maintained internally, coordinate the calibration with a certified external resource.
  • Maintains clear and concise records to facilitate identifying any timely problem, develop department procedures and comply with external and internal regulations.
  • Observe and comply with all safety rules and regulations. This includes the QSR and ISO Standards.
  • Performs “set-up,” tests, repair, inspection, calibration and / or corrective and preventive maintenance of all equipment in different areas (Manufacturing, Warehouse, Quality, etc.) materials, systems and / or products.
  • Installs, configures and validates equipment in the production area to improve performance and / or reduce cycle time followed by the established validation procedure.
  • Locate failures and solve problems that require interpretation of procedures or practices.
  • Analyze situations or data to identify issues and trends.
  • Collect, measure, organize and record data.
  • Provides input to engineering, qualifications, studies and validation reports, writes procedures and can carry a laboratory notebook.
  • Evaluate operational data to conduct online adjustments to products, instruments or equipment.
  • Develop or review documents or procedures.
  • Plan, organize and prioritize your own work routine to achieve the established itinerary and assigned tasks or projects.
  • As a team member communicates with other functional groups, as well as with internal clients.
  • As part of your responsibilities, you can contact external suppliers.
  • Evaluates and orders equipment, tools and is responsible for the necessary facilities.
  • You may be required to perform other tasks, as assigned.
