About The Position

The Maintenance Technician III works independently within established procedures and has proficiency in multiple job-related competencies. The role maintains and services plant and mobile equipment in a scrap yard, including conducting inspections, performing preventative maintenance and repairs, troubleshooting equipment, and documenting work. The technician follows safety procedures and regulations, including those for handling hazardous materials. The position requires physical activity in an industrial scrap recycling facility and may include other duties as assigned.

Requirements

3–5+ years of related experience, or 2+ years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
High school diploma.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and stoop for long periods of time.
Ability to climb in or on mobile equipment.
Ability to work in the physical environment of a scrap recycling facility, including walking and climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces and inclement weather.

Responsibilities

Conduct periodic safety and maintenance inspections to assess equipment condition, replacement needs, wear, and damage.
Use technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
Order replacement parts and coordinate with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, including loaders, shears, grapples, skid steers, forklifts, tractors and trailers, shredders, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, and PLCs.
Perform welding, grinding, weld setup, and torching.
Set up and break down machinery as needed.
Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system to track and document activities.
Follow established safety procedures and regulations for hazardous materials handling.
Perform other duties as assigned.
