About The Position

This role is for a 2nd shift Maintenance Technician II, working from 4pm to 12:20am. The position involves direct participation in the installation of new machinery and mechanical equipment, as well as guiding others through the installation process. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining machines, control panels, switchboards, junction boxes, switches, and motors. The technician will test circuits, diagnose readings, and take corrective actions to resolve problems, consulting with outside machine tool manufacturers as needed. Collaboration with the Engineering Staff is crucial for coordinating changes to plant layout that require moving machines and equipment controls, providing input for optimal equipment placement, cost, and time requirements. The role also involves diagnosing electrical/mechanical issues with automated machine tools, observing machine operation, using diagnostic equipment to locate malfunctions, and consulting with equipment vendors. The technician will use hand and power tools to replace components, make adjustments, and recalibrate machinery to restore equipment to operating condition efficiently. Additionally, the role includes managing equipment maintenance manuals and service records, monitoring third-party maintenance contractors, maintaining positive working relationships with service providers, and providing coaching. Working with the Engineering Manager on contract renewals, establishing and maintaining a maintenance shop and spare parts inventory, and setting up the shop with necessary tools and supplies are also key duties. The technician will be accountable for issuing purchase orders to maintain parts inventory and implementing systems for receiving and issuing parts. Participation in and sustaining 6S activities, working safely, ensuring co-workers follow safety policies, and participating in kaizen events are expected. Related duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in welding, machining, machine building, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Knowledge of various computer skills (CMMS, Microsoft office skills, Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal customers, service providers, supervisor, and fellow workers.
  • Comprehensive ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems related to PLC and electromechanical aspects of manufacturing equipment.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to properly use testing equipment including (electrical, mechanical, and fluid power).
  • Broad knowledge of PLC ‘s and electrical principles, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Responsibilities

  • Participate directly in the installation of new machinery and other mechanical equipment used in company operations.
  • Install and maintain machines, control panels, switchboards, junction boxes, switches and motors.
  • Test circuits, diagnose readings and take corrective action to resolve problems.
  • Discuss report readings with outside machine tool manufacturers to obtain their counsel and advise as needed.
  • Work closely with Engineering Staff to coordinate procedures on changes to plant layout requiring the movement of machines and equipment controls.
  • Provide input to achieve optimum results for equipment placement, cost, and time requirements to carry out changes.
  • Diagnose electrical/mechanical-related trouble associated with automated machine tools.
  • Observe machine operation and use diagnostic equipment to locate cause of malfunction.
  • Consult with equipment vendors to verify problem.
  • Use necessary hand and power tools to take appropriate action to replace components, make adjustments and recalibrate machinery to resolve issues and restore equipment to operating condition quickly and efficiently.
  • Manage equipment maintenance manuals and service records.
  • Observe and monitor the completion of outstanding work orders assigned to third party maintenance contractors.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with service providers and provide coaching and feedback as needed to ensure their high performance.
  • Work with Engineering Manager on contract renewals.
  • Establish and maintain maintenance shop and spare parts inventory for machinery.
  • Set up shop to include hand and bench tools and supplies needed to carry out machine maintenance programs.
  • Assume accountability, for issuing purchase orders to maintain parts inventory at proper levels and implement systems and procedures for receiving and parts issuance.
  • Participate in and sustain 6S activities.
  • Work in a safe manner and follow safety policies.
  • Make sure co-workers are working safely and following safety policies.
  • Participate in kaizen events and sustain improvements made from those events.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or directed.
