About The Position

Provides necessary building and equipment repairs including plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, heating and cooling and grounds maintenance. Maintains sanitation and safety standards and maintains equipment to code.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma
  • Five years maintenance experience preferably in a healthcare field
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Dexterity to maneuver equipment
  • Ability to walk distances from one building to another several times each day
  • Normal range of hearing dexterity and eyesight needed to perform technical duties
  • Ability to remember multiple assignments and concentrate
  • Ability to assist with resident evacuation in the event of an emergency

Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary building and equipment repairs including plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, heating and cooling and grounds maintenance.
  • Monitor proper water temperatures and status of water softener.
  • Implement all necessary inspections and repairs required by preventative maintenance program.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on any equipment including vehicles, appliances, and dryer vents.
  • Check and clean exhaust ventilators, heating and air conditioning units, and respective filters and air handlers.
  • Repair electrical systems, plumbing, air conditioning systems, appliances, and furniture.
  • Replace light bulbs and move furniture as needed.
  • Perform touch-up tasks such as painting and patching walls.
  • Check the emergency power generator system daily and test system regularly.
  • Maintain work area in clean, safe, orderly manner.
  • Maintain constant supervision of hazardous equipment.
  • Assure that residents’ rights and family requests are maintained at all times, reporting suspected deviations to an immediate supervisor.
  • Responsible for snow, ice, and leaves removal, lawn care/mowing, and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform monthly checks on fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.
  • Document all maintenance work performed in facility and report to supervisor.
  • Keep tools in locked storage areas.
  • Recommend capital improvement as they become evident.
  • Adhere to universal precautions and OSHA compliance.
  • Accompany department director during inspections.
  • Assist and supervise performance of outside contractors for necessary repairs.
  • Assist in conducting monthly drills and record keeping.
  • Be available to answer questions and provide support on equipment.
  • Treat residents, family members, and employees fairly and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures and in a timely manner.
