About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I performs labor-intensive tasks while performing routine general and preventative maintenance to grounds, equipment, facilities and infrastructure on a daily basis. This position requires a good understanding of basic facility repairs, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. This position may complete tasks within close proximity to the general public and must be capable of providing a safe work zone. This position is expected to maintain the highest level of customer service while engaging with contractors, the general public and other city departments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with one year of minimum experience.
• Possession of a valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or higher.
• Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR and AED certification within six months.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of parks and recreation facilities maintenance and repair or related services.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of safe work habits.
• Skill in operating a variety of tools, equipment, vehicles and trailers.
• Skill in analyzing problems and developing effective solutions.
• Ability to work independently or cohesively as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and follow the City of Conroe/Departmental policies and procedures.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment.
• A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required.
• Safety-sensitive positions remain subject to random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
