Maintenance Technician I - Evenings

About The Position

This is your opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. We value our team members just as much as the people we serve. This is a full-time evening shift position, Wednesday-Sunday, with weekends required. You will perform routine maintenance including basic carpentry, painting, and plumbing, read and follow setup instructions for events across campus, install fixtures like grab bars, towel racks, and address small repairs. You will also move furniture, patch drywall, spot clean or replace carpet tiles, conduct preventative maintenance on vehicles weekly, and respond promptly to resident emergency alerts and service requests. The goal is to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR (required)
  • Ability to read simple instructions and follow diagrams
  • Capable of performing tasks independently after receiving instructions
  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in building trades
  • Applicants for this position must be able to produce a negative drug test.
  • Applicants may be subject to a background check.
  • Employees in this position must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Candidates must also complete a QuantiFERON Gold TB Blood Test as part of their pre-hire drug screen and physical.
  • Illinois Health Care Worker Background Check Act Screening
  • National, State, County Criminal Background Checks
  • Federal and state exclusion screening (OIG/Medicare/Medicaid)
  • Pre-employment drug screening (including marijuana)
  • Verification of work authorization
  • Motor vehicle record view for positions requiring driving

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of general building maintenance or janitorial experience (preferred)
