About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all production equipment and machinery as well as for the repair, maintenance and appearance of the facility. This role involves supporting and upholding Viant Values, treating employees with dignity and respect, and maintaining a professional attitude. Attendance is paramount, requiring associates to report to their scheduled shift on time and work their entire shift. The technician will clean assigned workstations, troubleshoot and repair production equipment and machinery, respond to emergencies, perform preventative maintenance, and maintain lubrication levels. Additional duties include supporting production as requested, maintaining and repairing the facility, and ensuring a safe working environment. The expectation is to develop skills for basic, repetitive, and manual activities, use existing procedures to solve problems, and master requirements to advance to Maintenance Technician II.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • 1-2 years maintenance experience, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Specialized training in electricity - high and low voltage systems preferred
  • Machine control programmable controllers
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints and schematics
  • Specialized training in hydraulics systems and components
  • Ability to read hydraulic blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to do repetitive work
  • Ability to read, understand and follow specification sheets
  • Basic mathematical skills to understand variation
  • Ability to use measuring devices and hand tools

  • Complete the repairs and maintenance of production equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot equipment & machinery.
  • Allocate proper spare parts to complete repairs.
  • Maintain appropriate maintenance documentation.
  • Respond to production and/or facility emergencies to maintain production output.
  • Establish priorities based on available information, work processes and current production commitments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and machinery as defined by the set of procedures.
  • Follow established procedures to maintain lubrication levels and/or to lubricate and adjust production equipment as necessary.
  • Respond to safety emergencies and situations requiring immediate attention.
  • Support production as requested by the production supervisor and/or the maintenance supervisor, including screw and barrel cleanings, making water hoses, relocating equipment, responding to oil and water spills.
  • Maintain and repair the facility as necessary, including drywall repair and small building projects and plumbing fixture repair.
  • Perform all duties and direct others creating a safe working environment for employees and communities.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
