The Maintenance Technician I is an introductory-level maintenance position that assists with the upkeep of electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food-processing environment. This role ensures the safe operation of equipment and machinery, safe use of tools, and the safety of others working in the immediate area. Responsibilities include assisting with troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems, electrical controls, electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, blowers/fans, and resolving equipment malfunctions by evaluating performance breakdowns, identifying root causes, safely repairing the equipment, and taking actions to prevent recurring failures. The position also involves assisting with installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining mechanical equipment, piping systems, and electrical controls/components in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, local regulations, and company safety policies. Performing visual and basic preventive and predictive maintenance schedules on mechanical equipment such as Wrap Machines, Dock Doors, Dock Locks, and Dock Levelers in a warehouse environment is also a key part of this role. The technician will coordinate with their supervisor regarding all short-term and long-term repairs to minimize production downtime, receive and review work orders to determine necessary resources, and always arrive at crisis call scenes with the basic tools and equipment necessary to perform work. Ensuring all assigned work and preventative maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner and following all work instructions and documenting appropriate records to meet requirements set forth by OSHA, EPA, USDA, and Warehouse management are also expected.
