About The Position

Assist in equipment repair and preventative maintenance procedures in the operation of the facility. This role involves repairing, replacing, and correcting equipment to ensure optimal operation according to production requirements. The technician will consult with engineers and vendors as needed, perform layout work for projects, and troubleshoot equipment. A strong emphasis is placed on meeting safety requirements and complying with all Simmons policies and government regulations concerning safety, environment, vehicle operation, and the handling of food products, ingredients, and packaging. The position also requires active participation as a team member, contributing to the development and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, and fostering cohesiveness within the team. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) is expected, along with understanding the role's impact on these systems and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. The role may also involve performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Must have experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics.
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, replaces, corrects or affects equipment as needed to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
  • Consults with engineers and vendors as needed.
  • Accomplishes layout work for each project as needed.
  • Troubleshoots equipment.
  • Meets safety requirements in accomplishing responsibilities of this position complying with all policies or regulations set forth by Simmons or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle, handling of food products, packaging, ingredients and any related items.
  • Participates as a member of the Team, including ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.
  • Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
