About The Position

Cargill's protein and salt business is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to join their team in Timberville, VA. This full-time position is responsible for ensuring all assets are maintained in safe condition and for the longevity of equipment. The role involves performing preventative, predictive, and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the facility, with limited direction. The technician will utilize various maintenance tools and demonstrate experience in one or two maintenance trades and components. This role also requires documenting work, interacting with peers and management for continuous improvement, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
Must be 18 years or older
Ability to read/write/speak English
Ability to work with variety of hand tools
Must be able to understand and use blueprints, schematics, and installation/operation manuals to install and repair equipment
Extensive knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical principles
Ability to work flexible hours and shifts
Accuracy, precision, and dependability are a necessity
Must be a self-starter and have good communication skills
Must be a team player, but also must be able to work well alone
Specific eye requirements: No contact lenses allowed in engine room when welding or electrical troubleshooting and repair
3 years maintenance experience
Candidates should be currently enrolled or have completed an apprenticeship program or have an equivalent educational background
Experience in solid state controls and devices including PLC. frequency drives and HIM

Responsibilities

Utilize maintenance and reliability practices with some guidance to ensure all assets are maintained in safe condition while continuing to ensure the life of the equipment being used
Complete preventative, predictive and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the facility, with limited direction.
Leverage knowledge and ability to operate 1 or 2 standard maintenance tools such as power tools, basic hand tools, electric tools, precision maintenance tools and preventative maintenance technology tools
Demonstrate experience in 1 or 2 maintenance trades and components (ex. electrical, welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic systems)
Modify with some direction or instruction in either electrical or mechanical schematics, blueprints and operation manuals
Document completed work and the conditions found utilizing maintenance computer software and interact regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations
