About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I performs ordinary, labor-intensive tasks commonly related to streets and drainage construction and maintenance. This role also assists operators in any way necessary to complete the job. The position requires the ability to work on-call duty and respond at any hour during an emergency when requested. The City of Conroe is an Equal Opportunity Employer and requires successful completion of a background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment. A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required. Safety-sensitive positions remain subject to random drug and alcohol testing after hire.

Requirements

• One year of experience in Public Works preferred.
• Ability to understand and abide by City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures.
• Must be able to work on-call duty and respond at any hour during an emergency when requested.
• Must be able to work as many hours as required to complete jobs.
• Must be able to attend after hours classes to renew or obtain required certifications/licenses when necessary.
• Must be able to lift weights of 50 pounds and 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to use all tools to accomplish the job in an efficient manner.
• Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.
• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel or sit for long periods of time.
• Must be capable of reading, writing and communicating in English.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within six months from hire date.
