About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for supporting maximum production efficiency by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing, packaging, and facility equipment. This role supports Nutramax’s commitment to producing safe, high quality products by maintaining equipment in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety standards. The technician works hands on with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, automated machinery, programable logic controller (PLCs), motors, pumps, and facility systems. This position requires hands on troubleshooting, interpretation of schematics and blueprints, and the ability to support both production and facility maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in electrical and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance in an industrial environment.
  • Attention to detail and some process analytical skills necessary.
  • Requires the ability to use fractions, decimals, and commercial arithmetic as well as a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience, with at least 3 years in a GMP or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Technical or Vocational training required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HVAC systems, welding, and industrial automation.
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing and packaging systems.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or other GMP regulated environments.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize mechanical and electrical steps required to ensure safe, efficient production of quality products.
  • Perform equipment setup, changeovers, and line adjustments to maintain peak efficiency while operating within cGMP and SOP requirements.
  • Maintain and repair manufacturing, filling, and packaging equipment.
  • Provide emergency, unplanned, and planned repairs on production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production machines and facility equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce recurring failures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment using root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems up to 480V AC and/or DC Circuits.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and interact with PLC systems, including Allen Bradley and Siemens.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot control systems including: PLCs, HMIs, Servo systems, Photo eyes and proximity sensors.
  • Troubleshoot, install, and test variable-frequency drive (VFDs).
  • Analyze and replace electrical controls and power distribution components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, and automation equipment.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment using precision measurement tools.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and wiring diagrams.
  • Perform general facility maintenance including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical repairs.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
  • Adhere to all established SOPs, cGMP requirements, and safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and work orders using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) system.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and communicate parts needs to leader.
  • Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other departments.
  • Interact with external contractors and vendors, as needed.
  • Train new employees in equipment operation, maintenance practices, SOPs, GMPs, and safety requirements, on an as needed basis.
  • Lead by example and mentor other maintenance team members to promote teamwork and skill development.
  • Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives.
  • Regular attendance is required.
