About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintenance and repair to the Distribution Centers. This role involves performing troubleshooting, scheduled preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs on mechanical material handling equipment, including conveyors, sortation systems, and forklifts. The technician will also perform basic electrical troubleshooting and maintenance projects on conveyor systems, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Additionally, they will identify and locate required repair parts and assist higher-level maintenance associates on projects.

Requirements

  • Must be able to operate all equipment necessary to perform the role. This includes but is not limited to pallet jacks, various styles of forklifts, and other Material Handling Equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated to seek work.
  • Ability and willingness to follow material handling equipment safe operating procedures.
  • Ability to complete assignments in time allotted.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (until work is done).
  • Ability to work regularly at a maximum height of four flights of stairs.
  • Ability to operate a cherry picker and/or scissor lift, and work at a maximum height of 36 feet while being tethered to a safety harness.
  • 3 + years of progressive mechanical aptitude experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment and the ability to work independently and safely, with limited supervision.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic experience in working with and troubleshooting 120VAC-480VAC electrical components as well as 24VDC systems.
  • Basic knowledge of common distribution center electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experienced and proficient utilizing machines/equipment as follows: hand tools, measuring tools, drills, grinders, saws, multimeter, tachometer, welder, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting on equipment/machinery as issues arise in the distribution center and make necessary repairs based on conclusions.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical material handling equipment, including transportation conveyors, sortation systems, and forklifts.
  • Perform emergency mechanical repairs to failed material handling systems.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Perform maintenance projects on conveyor systems.
  • Perform repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Identify and locate required repair parts for failed systems.
  • Assists Maintenance Tech II and Maintenance Tech III associates on projects and troubleshooting.
