About The Position

We are currently seeking Maintenance Technicians – Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians to join our Surface and Underground Mobile Maintenance Team in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. These are permanent on-site positions, working a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotational schedule. Relocation to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador is required for this position. As a Maintenance Technician – Heavy Duty Equipment Technician you will be responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, servicing, and maintaining mobile heavy-duty mining equipment.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician is required.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician is required.
  • 4 years of Heavy Duty Mechanic experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the repair and maintenance of CAT, Epiroc, Hitachi, Sandvik and Maclean Mining Equipment would be considered an asset.
  • Previous mining experience would be considered an asset but transferable skills from other industries are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to work through troubleshooting charts and reading schematics would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of and interest in computerized diagnostic tools and equipment would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Heavy Duty hydraulic systems, electrical systems and powertrains would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect Bolters, Jumbo Drills, Haul Trucks, Graders, Bulldozers, Excavators, Shovels, Loaders and other surface and underground equipment for proper performance and troubleshoot equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
  • Adjust, repair or replace defective parts and components of the equipment systems.
  • Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems, and lubrication systems.
  • Inspect, examine and test parts in order to recommend the extent and nature of the work to be done then test the final repair.
  • Service attachments and working tools as required.
