About The Position

CompX National is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our 1st Shift. This role involves monitoring a diverse array of production systems and equipment, performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and completing routine preventative maintenance. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and programming PLCs, HMI systems, and electrical issues, as well as diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment. A strong understanding of safety procedures, quality system requirements, and documentation is essential. Overtime may be required.

Requirements

  • Associate technical degree or vocational training in industrial field or similar, and 5 years of manufacturing experience is preferred OR a minimum of 7 years combined training and experience
  • In-depth understanding of Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC software
  • Expertise in troubleshooting ladder logic, making edits, and performing at least some programming
  • Knowledge in industrial communication pathways such as ethernet/IP or Profibus
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and efficiently use a multi meter
  • Understanding of electrical systems such as 480-volt and 24-volt circuits
  • Solid experience with fluid pumps and AC/DC motors
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working on gears, gearboxes, chains, bearings etc.
  • Understanding of pneumatic systems such as solenoids, cylinders, and diaphragm pumps
  • Displays initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to meet or exceed company attendance and punctuality standards

Responsibilities

  • Monitor a diverse array of production systems and equipment to identify any issues.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Complete routine preventative maintenance thoroughly and on time.
  • Troubleshoot and program PLCs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HMI systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment issues.
  • Understand and follow all Safety procedures such as lockout-tagout and wearing proper PPE.
  • Understand and practice Quality System requirements and documentation (i.e., applicable inspection, verification, and disposition procedures, and/or instructions and forms required as part of the process).
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
