JOB DESCRIPTION: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary focus is on learning the multi-skilled maintenance trade through assignments and formal learning focused on developing maintenance skills and abilities Strong focus on customer service Understand safety rules and procedures to safely perform all tasks Know and practice respectful workplace behavior This is a technical occupation that an employee will be in a technical position and required to continue their education in a trade Operates Power Industrial Trucks (PIT) ELECTRICAL SKILLS REQUIRED: LOTO trained Understands and is trained on the LOTO Deviation Permit Process Understand electrical arc flash protection code requirements Understand basic concepts of electricity including voltage, current, and resistance Understand and operate a volt-ohm-millimeters (VOM) and non-contact voltage testers to properly test for energized electrical circuits Understand the basics of electrical machine controls MECHANICAL SKILLS: LOTO trained. Understand mechanical fastener types, application and installation procedures. Select and install various types of fasteners Handle, dispense and apply various types of lubricants Understand types, properties, storage, handling and application of basic lubricants, and the use of typical lubricant charts Understand basic machine shop skills and machine safety Understand and participate in TPM initiatives. Must be adaptable to working in dangerous situations (vaults, scaffolding), heavy equipment, and in all climates Understand hydraulic valve configuration, operation, and components Understand pneumatic valve configuration, operation, and component Weld, braze, solder and cut metal Transport and safely store oxygen and acetylene cylinders Use block and tackle, chain hoists, slings, levelers, come-alongs, jacks, and winches to lift or move equipment Inspect heavy lifting hardware and cranes, and help perform heavy lifting jobs Understand basic components of blueprints including scales, symbols and dimensions QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Must be in a 2-year Associate Degree program in a related field and doesn’t have the 3-4 year experience. Trained in LOTO, Electrical / Mechanical Safe Work Practices, Ladder Safety, CPR, Respiratory protection, Incipient stage fire response, Confined space entry, Fall protection, Enclosed spaces entry, and Aerial lifts. Must operate/be trained in the use of Power Industrial Trucks (PIT). Basic PC skills Communication and time-management skills Developing customer focus skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Some heavy lifting required to replace motors, pumps, extruder screws, etc., at low frequency. Equipment is provided to move / manipulate heavy components Occasionally squat, crawl, reach above shoulders, kneel and balance Requires repetitive action such as simple staring, grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulating.
